The biggest difference is price outside the US: since 1 January 2026 Medisafe is a 14-day trial and then a subscription there, while AlongWell is free everywhere. AlongWell can also remind a family member on WhatsApp. Medisafe offers an interaction checker in the US, and an Apple Watch app.

Is Medisafe free in India?
Not since 1 January 2026. Outside the US, Medisafe gives a 14-day trial and then needs a subscription; the App Store in India listed it at ₹299 to ₹499 a month when we checked on 28 October 2026. AlongWell is free.
Is there a free alternative to Medisafe?
AlongWell is free on iPhone and Android in every country. It reminds each family member, can send reminders on WhatsApp, and tells the carer when a dose isn’t marked.
Can Medisafe send reminders on WhatsApp?
Medisafe’s store listings and help centre don’t mention WhatsApp; its Medfriend alerts are push notifications. AlongWell sends dose reminders to a family member’s WhatsApp.
